Cybercriminals frequently use Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks to impair global organizations’ key services. The attacks have increased by 27% in 2021 and are expected to grow further by 31% in 2022. Recent DDoS attacks on VoIP companies Telnyx and Bandwidth highlight the significance of implementing strong cybersecurity safeguards. A DDoS attack may result in significant downtimes, a loss of client trust, and a loss of revenue in general, which is why having an incident response strategy is critical!

Telnyx is shifting its operations to Cloudflare Magic Transit to reduce extra risks due to the attack’s intensity. According to the business, users may suffer failed calls, API and portal latency/time outs, and delayed or failed notifications until the issue is resolved.

Bandwidth is a (VoIP) voice over Internet Protocol service provider that offers voice telephony to companies and resellers via the Internet. Since then, Bandwidth has issued regular status updates describing failures impacting phone, Enhanced 911 (E911) services, messaging, and portal access. It is unclear whether all of these failures are linked to Bandwidth’s service interruption. One outage complaint specifically cites Bandwidth, while the others say an upstream provider was implicated.
